Denim Care
Wear it in. Look after it.
Good denim gets better with age — if you let it. A little care keeps the colour deep, the fabric strong and the fades your own.

The basics
Three rules for long-lasting denim
01 — WASH LESS
Only when it needs it
Every wash takes some indigo with it. Air your jeans out between wears and spot-clean small marks.
02 — WASH COLD
Inside out, cold water
Turn them inside out, button up, and use a gentle cycle with mild detergent. Wash with dark colours only.
03 — AIR DRY
Skip the dryer
Hang them by the waistband in the shade. Tumble drying and harsh sun fade colour and weaken the fibres.
By fabric
Care for your pair
| Fabric | First wash | How often | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Raw selvedge | After 3–6 months of wear | Rarely | Soak in cold water for the first wash to set your fades |
| Rinsed / dark | After 10–15 wears | Every 10–15 wears | Wash separately the first two times — some dye may bleed |
| Stretch denim | Any time | Every 6–8 wears | Avoid heat — it breaks down the stretch fibres |
| Black | Any time | Every 6–8 wears | Wash inside out, cold, with a black-safe detergent |
| Light wash | Any time | As needed | A normal cold cycle is fine |
Raw denim
Breaking it in
- Expect it to feel stiff at first — it softens in 2–3 weeks of regular wear.
- Indigo can transfer onto light fabrics and shoes early on. Avoid white upholstery for the first few wears.
- Wear them hard. Creases at the hips and knees become your personal fade pattern.

Storing & repairs
- Fold, or hang by the belt loops — not by the hems.
- Keep them somewhere dry and ventilated. A cedar block keeps them fresh.
- Small tear or worn crotch? Repair it early, before it spreads. Get in touch and we’ll guide you.
